Men’s soccer team dominates Northeastern Junior College

The 13th-ranked Golden Eagles men's soccer team remains unbeaten in conference play by getting the 8-0 win over the visiting Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen on Oct. 16 at LCCC.

The Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard early as Peterson Neri passed the ball to Jesse Molina, who shot the ball in the Plainsmen's goal in the 2nd minute of action. In the 13th minute, Dewey Rodgers passed the ball to sprinting Gleydson Neri for the second goal of the half.
 
In the second half, Fernando Perez found Tyler Mangel for two more goals in the 58th and 60th minute. In the 65th minute Mangel assisted Vitor Nazareth for a goal. Nazareth would score again in the 78th minute off an assist from Jalen Willett. A minute later Jesse Molina passed the ball to an open Wyatt Witty for a goal. The final goal of the game came from Mangel shooting a quick free kick over the Plainsmen goalie. Mangel, who is a defender for the Eagles, scored his first college hat trick. LCCC goalkeeper Daniel Ainsworth and the Golden Eagles defense recorded their fourth shutout of the season.

The men’s soccer team (11-3-1 overall, 9-0-1 Region IX) will host Otero Junior College at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, and then Trinidad State Junior College at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 at LCCC.
