Diesel students rumble in SkillsUSA competition

Friday, April 23, 2010
The statewide contest revs up at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the LCCC Auto/Diesel Building.

Diesel students at Laramie County Community College have a chance to put their education to the test against other students in the region at the SkillsUSA competition this weekend.

The event comes to LCCC’s Auto/Diesel Building Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Contestants will cycle through 14 stations troubleshooting engines and testing basic engines, electrical and electronics systems, chassis, transmissions, carriers, hydraulic systems, brake systems and air conditioning. They’ll also perform vehicle inspections and fundamental failure analyses, show off their general shop and interview skills and complete a written test.

It’s an opportunity to see how well they can perform under pressure and to show off their skills. The public is welcome to come cheer on the LCCC students.
