Fisk moves on to nationals
Laramie County Community College equestrian team rider Kayla Fisk locked up a spot in the IHSA national competition after taking first place in Open Horsemanship during the semifinal competition in Harrington, Del., March 24-25.
Fisk and teammate Lily Crawford represented the LCCC team well in the western semifinals. During the two-day event, individuals ride in heat classes on Saturday vying for a spot in the finals class on Sunday. Crawford competed well, but didn’t make it into Sunday’s competition.
The top four riders from each individual western equitation class go on to compete in the IHSA national horse show May 3-6 at the Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, N.C.
Hamilton qualifies for Hunt Zone finals
Laramie County Community College equestrian team member Emily Hamilton secured a spot in the Hunt Zone finals after her performance in the IHSA Regional Hunt Seat Show on Feb. 27 at Fall River Farms in Fort Lupton, Colo. Hamilton placed second in novice equitation and third in novice fences.
Hamilton will compete in the finals April 7-8 in Stanford, Calif. The top two finishers in the finals will have the opportunity to compete in the IHSA national competition in Raleigh, N.C., in May.
