Equestrian team rides well in first Western Show

Fourteen athletes place.

The Laramie County Community College equestrian team traveled to Colby, Kan., Oct. 16-17 to compete in the first Western show of the season. The Golden Eagles had 14 athletes place. LCCC placed sixth as a team on Saturday and fourth on Sunday.

Individual results:
  • Emily Graham placed first and fifth in Open Horsemanship and seventh in both shows in Open Reining
  • Elizabeth Harris placed first in Advanced Horsemanship and fourth in Open Horsemanship
  • Kayla Fisk placed third and fourth in Advanced Horsemanship
  • Jordan Matthews placed sixth in Novice Horsemanship
  • Leah Santillanes placed first in Novice Horsemanship
  • Krista Quint placed fourth in both shows in Intermediate II Horsemanship
  • Becky Lewis placed sixth in both shows in Intermediate II Horsemanship
  • Trisha Dahlke placed fifth and sixth in Intermediate II Horsemanship
  • Sara Eggert placed first and second in Intermediate I Horsemanship
  • Annie Hoag placed fifth in Beginner Horsemanship and second in Intermediate I Horsemanship
  • Anna Eberth placed first and second in Beginner Horsemanship
  • Gloria Welch placed second in Beginner Horsemanship
  • Katie Briggs placed fifth in Beginner Horsemanship
  • Vicki Cherry placed fifth in Beginner Horsemanship

The Equestrian team’s next event will be on Oct. 23 and 24 at the University of Colorado in Fort Lupton. Schedules can be found at www.lccc.wy.edu/athletics
