Associate of Science

Since the 1950’s the computer has developed from a novelty with a few technical numerical applications to a ubiquitous tool essential to science and technology, business and finance, government, communications and entertainment. “Computer” can be defined as personal devices such as phones, tablets, glasses and other wearable devices. As a result, computer science has grown from a specialization in mathematics, business or electrical engineering, to an independent, broadly based area of study covering all aspects of the use and understanding of computers and the computation process. The Associate of Science in Computer Science provides a foundation for students to complete their baccalaureate degree at a four-year institution in the many specialized concentrations in the broad category of computer science.
