About the Center
LCCC Children’s Discovery Center commitment to quality includes a curriculum based on more than 75 years of early childhood development research. The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Preschool Aged children is a nationally recognized curriculum that identifies goals in four areas of development: social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language. Parent-teacher conferences are held throughout the year and are designed to individualize goals for each child. All teachers have credentials in early childhood education.
6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
Tuition is based on a year-round, full-time or part-time option. If a parent or guardian would like to review the center's tuition agreement, they are asked to contact the center.
The center encourages anyone interested in learning more about the facility to schedule a tour by calling 307.778.1303.
The Children’s Discovery Center is licensed by the Wyoming Department of Family Services.
All enrolled children have the opportunity to receive a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. The center collaborates with The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which is a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutrition program sponsored and administered by the Wyoming Department of Education.
The Children’s Discovery Center is an academic lab environment for LCCC students. This opportunity allows college students from a variety of fields such as dental hygiene, nursing, education, etc. to gain experience working with children while also exposing the children to unique opportunities that enhance their education.
Because more learning and growth take place during the first three years of a child's life than any other time, the Children's Discovery Center has organized the infant classroom to meet the individual needs of children 6 weeks to 12 months of age.
The curriculum for infants is based on using schedules and routines to build positive relationships with primary caregivers.
Children 12 to 36 months old continue to build on relationships learned in the infant program as they explore their expanding environment and acquire new skills.
Children 3 to 4 years old are assessed to determine their individual developmental needs. In a developmentally appropriate setting, children are presented the opportunities they need to become successful learners as they master milestones on the Creative Curriculum Development Continuum.
Children 4 to 6 years old continue to make progress on the developmental continuum. Their individual skills and strengths are linked to the Wyoming Early Readiness Standards to better prepare each child for entry to kindergarten. Many children are able to read by the time they go to kindergarten round-up.
Half Day Kindergarten Readiness Program
Morning and afternoon sessions are available with classes running Monday through Thursday. There is also the option of two days a week Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. The children in this class are 3.5 to 5 years old and there is a strong emphasis on academics and kindergarten preparation.
Multi Age Part Time
Children ages 18 months to 6 years old are provided with experiences and activities to help them develop social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language skills. Contracts are agreed on per semester with options of two hour minimum blocks, half days or full day.
Summer School Age Program
This is a program that runs from June to August for school age children. The hours are 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. The program is filled with activities and field trips designed to keep the children learning and having fun all summer. This program is open for children entering kindergarten to 6th/7th grade in the fall. This program has the option of selecting specific full days or attending full time Monday through Friday.
