ACC Wind Turbine
Built in 2007
The wind turbine on the Albany County Campus in Laramie has two purposes: to supply the campus with electrical energy and to teach students about wind power.
The turbine:
- Produces 65 kilowatts of power when wind blows 33 mph
- Is operated and maintained via computers in Laramie and Cheyenne
- Distributes any excess power to the Rocky Mountain Power grid system for other customers’ use
- Creates data that can provide opportunities to improve and further develop green features
